ContextFolder Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

ContextFolder is a home-screen widget for Android that shows, hides, or promotes app shortcuts based on rules you configure (for example, Bluetooth connection to a car, or time of day), plus optional one-tap manual profiles. This page describes what data the app handles and why.

Data we collect

ContextFolder does not have a server, an account system, or any analytics or advertising integration. Every piece of information the app uses is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. This includes:

None of this data leaves your device. It is not backed up to any cloud service by the app itself, and it is not shared with the developer or any third party.

Permissions and why they're needed

ContextFolder does not request location permissions. A Wi-Fi based condition exists in the app's code but is currently disabled and inactive in released builds.

Purchases

ContextFolder offers an optional one-time in-app purchase to unlock certain limits, handled entirely through Google Play Billing. Payment and account information is processed by Google, not by ContextFolder — the app only stores whether the purchase was successfully verified, on your device.

Backup and export

The app includes an optional, user-initiated export feature that creates a JSON file of your configuration. This file is created and shared entirely through Android's own share sheet, at your direction — ContextFolder does not upload it anywhere itself.

Automation control (optional, off by default)

ContextFolder can optionally accept commands from other automation apps you control (such as Tasker or MacroDroid) to switch a manual profile. This is disabled by default and must be explicitly turned on in Settings. It operates entirely on-device and does not involve any data leaving your device.

Children's privacy

ContextFolder is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
